GERMAN WWII PANZER GRENADIER ASSAULT GUN TUNIC.

A rare piece of uniform from the German Armed Forces of WWII being the field grey assault gun jacket worn by a Hauptmann in the 67th Panzer Grenadier Regiment. The tunic is the standard wrap over configuration, full length, it has not been shortened , a practice which was quite common with the troops to shorten the tunics , lining of the style used in most M.36 tunics. Fully size stamped, depot coded ‘H43’, maker marked ‘Romei’. The interior waist ties are all complete. Good nap to the cloth with some slight service wear. It would appear to be a late war tunic with flecks of rayon mix within the weave of the cloth indicating a mixture of pulp. The shoulder boards are slip-on Hauptmann’s rank pips in gilt with matching gilded number ‘67’. Light apple green underlay with a matched set of light apple green centred officers wire woven collar patches. Officers breast eagle to the upper left hand breast. All original buttons. Attached to the right hand wide wrap over front of the tunic is a zinc division badge of the 26th Panzer Division, below that the ribbon for the Iron Cross. Fitted to the upper right breast is a medal ribbon bar containing War Service Cross with swords, East Front Medal, Armed Forces Long Service Medal, Entry into Czechoslovakia and Romanian Anti Communist Medal. Three loops above that for another medal ribbon bar if needed. Loops for three awards below with one set of loops for a German Cross or a Spanish Cross to the left hand breast. Standard adjustable cuffs. A rare tunic.
