GERMAN WWI IMPERIAL GERMAN STEEL HELMET COVER.

One of the rarest pieces of equipment of the Imperial German Army is the helmet cover. This example is in excellent condition, it fits a shell size 66 perfectly but would also fit a 64. Constructed from four individual panels in the identical material to the pickelhaube cover material. Built-in drawstring, the ends of which pass through two metallic eyelets, of which only one is used in this instance. This is the ultimate addition for the WWI German helmet collector. Complete with its leather reinforcement around the armoured front plate attachment lugs. When the helmet cover is inverted it stands alone and does not collapse upon itself. This is a test that we have learnt over many years which helps to identify original items.
