GERMAN WWII ARMED FORCES CLOSE COMBAT BAR IN GOLD.

A rare example of the Armed Forces Close Combat Bar in gold. Non maker marked, gold wash slightly subdued. The central plate is bright blued steel. On the reverse side wide fluted steel pin with original hook and hinge. The gold finish is thin to the central section at the rear of the reverse. Excellent research in the new work The German Close Combat Clasp of WWII by Thomas M. Durante shows on page 339 this exact example, quite unique in the fact that the central steel plate is held to the main body by 6 punched crimps. Further reading of this excellent work, particularly on pages 338, 339 pertaining to this example should be considered, every detail shown in his research conforms to this example.
