PRUSSIAN ERSATZ ALL FELT ENLISTED MANS HELMET.

A very nice strong condition one-piece felt helmet, never fitted with a back strap or front peak trim. The non removable brass spike and spike base and the Prussian front plate plus the strap posts all match in colour. Some battlefield shrapnel damage to the point of the spike. Excellent chinstrap with all brass fittings, complete with its national and Prussian State cockades. The 9 tongued liner all intact, the tip of one of the tongues has broken away and some other further degrading to the leather material to that part of the liner. The remains of a size 57 paper size label attached to the inner crown. Regimentally marked to the interior back peak but unfortunately the number is obscured, also a good date of ?1916? only the ?16? is clearly visible.
