GERMAN WWI PRUSSIAN INFANTRYMANS PICKELHAUBE. REGIMENTALLY MARKED.
An all leather skull Prussian enlisted ranks pickelhaube. The skull is generally excellent with some slight areas of the lacquer lifting. The front and back peaks have the standard congealing and crazing securely fitted to the main body with good strong stitching. The back strap, non removable spike and circular spike base, Prussian front plate, peak trim and all strap fittings match in colour. Good chinstrap and both national and state cockades. Ten tongued leather liner is all intact, supple, with its original leather drawstring. The interior to the skull retains good colour with the faint remains, unfortunately indecipherable, of the makers rubber ink stamp marking. The helmet is marked B.A.XV (Army Corp 15) to the back peak, also following mark Regiment No.136 with the 4.Lothringisches Infantry Regiment Garrison, formed in 1887 with the Garrison town of Strasbourg in what is now Alsace Lorraine and to the opposite inner peak marked again to Jager Regiment 136 with the size stamping of 57.
