A standard and very large size black Panzer wrap over tunic that has not been trimmed at the base as was the fashion with many troops at the time to shorten the tunics, fitted with the rare insignia of the heavy assault artillery. Slip-on Red silk piped shoulder boards to the rank of Oberfeldwebel with a subdued gothic S applied to each shoulder board, which is the designation for the renamed Armoured School Bergen. The collar patches are panzer style but piped in Red and has never had skulls fitted. Iron Cross 2nd class ribbon fitted to the top button hole, the late war triangular form Bevo woven grey on black breast eagle. Loops for one award to the breast. The tunic is without any moth damage, it is complete with all of the large zeltbahn type buttons. The nap of the cloth is thin places but no damage or repairs. The lining material is again a rarity being in light cream heavy duty cotton, profusely stamped with depot issue mark of B44 with a full RB number and a full compliment of size stamps. A highly interesting and rare unit panzer wrap over jacket. Many images of these jackets without collar patch skulls are shown being worn in the excellent work by Scott Pritchitt published by Schiffer Publishing, the work concentrates of panzer jackets of the German Armed Forces, there is no evidence of panzer skulls ever being attached to the collar patches.
