A most superb Imperial German officers sword with massive hilt and wide blade. The 84cms in length piped back blade in a semi rose Damascus pattern with the first 35cms of the length of the blade on both sides in blue and gold decoration. To the face side of the sword the presentation scroll from one officer to a Huffmanns.i.Sanders, with the date ‘1896/1897’the blue and gilt is absolutely superb. Just below the langet of the hilt are the clear markings of the Company ‘WKC’. On the reverse side of the blade in the exact same length as the face side another scroll, which reads ‘EINER FUR ALLE’ followed by ‘ALLE FUR EINEN’ (ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL). On the back edge of the blade again floral gilt decoration with the upper blue panel of the retailer’s Company ‘G.Forsch, Cassel’. All fitted into its massive size lion headed hilt that has excellent gilt finish, red ruby eyes to the lion’s head, ray skin grip excellent with some wear use but all wire intact. Cross cannon for artillery langet with the rear langet having a knight’s head over a panel that would be ready to receive an engraving of initials. Puma headed quillon to the hilt. All fitted into its original scabbard, which retains virtually all of its black painted finish, one lower suspension ring removed. White felt washer all complete. To the underside of the hilt marked ‘DRGM’ with a series of issue numbers.
