The 1878 form of cork helmet with rounded front peak worn by the British Army through the late colonial period through to the end of the Boer war. This example having a WD marked added khaki field cover the helmet is white under the cover stop the sweatband is the standard form which does have some of the outer skin remaining on the leather sweatband, green lining faint traces of an original owner’s name to the interior with two partially visible paper labels which read “part worn”. And still has its leather chin strap.
