GERMAN WWI SOUVENIR POST HOME M17 HELMET.

Si66 stamped shell, retaining the great majority of its apple green finish. To the exterior crown a gummed canvas type label having the address attached Mr M.W.Pryor 503 Franklin Terrace, Baltimore Maryland USA, with an extra small label with the faint outline of the soldier, sender’s name and the remains of US postal stamps. Many of these helmets were posted home by the Doughboys of World War I . To the interior the M17 steel liner band intact with all three of the leather pads, all the inner horsehair pads are missing, the original drawstring is present, the leather is dry but still strong. A very nice example of a souvenir post and helmet.
