GERMAN WWI TECHNICAL OFFICERS M.1910 TUNIC.
A very nice heavyweight private purchased model 1910 officers tunic. Standard field grey M.10 cut with two lower pockets with flaps, Swedish cuffs, which are red piped, red piped front skirt with red piped high stand collar. Fitted with a set of blue and silver flecked shoulder boards in Bavarian colours, which have faded over grey underlay, which signifies technical or engineer troops. Engineer and technical troops officers collar patches, which are red piped. The tunic is in exceptional heavy weight cloth condition, very minor moth nips only around the cuff area on one sleeve. Standard Prussian red piped rear skirt. The tunic is unusual in that it has been worn by a Bavarian officer but the tunic has Prussian buttons. To the lower half of the high stand collar in front of the collar patches is a short section on either side of the Bavarian silver and Blue lace. The shoulder boards, as stated, are Bavarian and has never been touched, they are stitch-in. The three medal ribbons comprise a Bavarian Military Merit medal, the Prussian Iron Cross 2nd class and what appears to be a Brunswick service award. All of the buttons are of the Prussian style, three of the closure buttons to the front of the tunic have been replaced, all of the other buttons to the front closure, the lower cuffs and the rear skirt are all untouched. We can only assume that this was a Bavarian officer either serving with a Prussian unit or the tailoring company had a shortage of Bavarian buttons. The mixture of Bavarian and Prussian awards are also unusual. The tunic overall is in fabulous condition, it was worn by a rank of Hauptmann however three of the four patinated rank stars are missing.
