GERMAN WWII SS INFANTRY ASSAULT BADGE CITATION.

A rare single A5 size citation for the Infantry Assault badge to a member of the 15th Waffen Grenadier Division Latvian, awarded to Waffen Grenadier Aivars Riekstinjsh of 12./Waffen-Gren.Rgt.D.SS 33 (LETT.NR.4), dated 13th April 1945, ink signature of Waffen SS Standartenfuhrer Junums. Excellent condition, non punch holed, folded once. After heavy fighting against the Soviets in West Prussia the remains of the division were formed into a Kampfgruppe, 40 officers, 126 NCOs and 658 men managed to fight their way over the river Elbe and surrendered to the Americans. Much research is available on Standartenfuhrer Junums, he was appointed Commander of the 4th Volunteer Regiment Latvian Legion in April 43 and awarded the German Cross in Gold in January 45.
