The most magnificent example of the 1939 awarded bar to the WWI Iron Cross, in its original box and in its original packet. The award itself has all original frosting to both sides of the award in its silver blocked image of the award to the exterior of the lid of the presentation box. It is a B.H.Mayer of Pforzheim produced example with the correct pin, hook and hinge. The inner silk to the lid is toned with one light stain, the velvet base all intact, the lid itself will not open completely without forcing the hinge on the reverse side, we do not wish to force the lid in case the hinge is frozen and would cause breakage on the reverse side of the box. Slight rusting to the closure catch at the front. The award is in its original box fitted into its original paper packet with the titling ‘SPANGE ZUM EISERNEN KREUZ 1.KLASSE’, with the maker of ‘B.H.Mayer’ on the side of the titled box. Two small tears close to the hinge of the lid and one small tear to the opposite side.
