GERMAN WWII U-BOAT COMMANDER’S KNIGHTS CROSS CITATION.
The incredibly rare A5 size citation, non punch-holed, once folded for the Knights Cross to the Iron Cross to Kapitan Leutnant Siegfried Ludden, dated ‘13th February 1944’, ink signature of an unidentified Korvetten Kapitan, Oberkommander Der Kriegsmarine issue stamp, Siegfried Ernst Gunther Hans Ludden born 20th May 1916 in Neu Brandenburg entered the Kriegsmarine in April 1936, he served on 129 between October 1941 and April 1942, before taking command of U-188 in March 1943 to June 1944. On the 11th April 43 he sank the British Destroyer HMS Beverley in the Indian Ocean and then continued operations against British ships between Penang near Signapore He died in a ship’s fire on the ship Dar Es Salam in Kiel harbour on the 13th January 1945.
