A very nice example of a four drawer all brass telescope named to N.C.Taylor of the 14th Bengal Lancers. A very nice telescope manufactured by the well known company of Pillischer London, famous for optical instruments in the mid 19th century. When the telescope is compressed it leaves a length of 26cm, 15cm of which is covered with Victorian leather, impressed into this leather the initials ‘N.C.T.Penhurst, Englefield Green, Surrey’ with pulling the sunshade section over the last lens reveals the beautiful mid Victorian script of ‘N.C.Taylor 14th Bengal Lancers’. This exotic sounding regiment epitomised in the famous Hollywood film The Lives of a Bengal Lancer.
