BRITISH WWI BRODIE HELMET REGIMENTALLY IDENTIFIED.
A good 2nd pattern Brodie helmet with the skull retaining virtually all of its original finish with a small area to the crown rubbed through. Identified as being the 1st/4th Battalion Wiltshire Regiment. To either side of the helmet is hand applied the Red Cross identical in form to the cross used by the Wiltshires. Slight residue of red paint to one small section underneath one of the crosses and another on the rim of the helmet, this would have been residue from a stencil used on many helmets, To the interior the chinstrap is all complete, albeit frail, a small portion of the oilskin liner and the canvas framework has been eaten away by rodents.
