GERMAN WW1 JAGER ZU PFERDE OFFICERS LOBSTER TAIL HELMENT.
A very good condition all white metal lobster tail helmet for an officer of one of the following Jager Zu Pferde regiments, 8,9,10,11,12,13. The skull is totally undented, all of the plating excellent to the upper skull section. To the lower lobster tail section the plating is thin in places which have been identified on our web images. The coloration of all the fittings, which include the complete trim to the helmet, the fluted spike, clover leaf spike base, Jager Zu Pferde Prussian style front plate, large curved chin scales, side trefoils covering the correct large size national and Prussian State cockades all match. To the interior the original officers sweatband and inner liner is in place, it has seen considerable wear use. The fawn velvet lining to the interior lobster tail is discoloured but complete. There appears to be an inventory, which maybe museum numbers, of ‘0007600’ stamped to both the silk of the inner liner and the leather sweatband, these may be museum accession numbers. The leather of the sweatband is slightly loose from the main body at the rear of the helmet.we have been informed by a very knowledgable collecter that the inventory numbers are from the Army Museum in Rastatt Germany who disposed of items from their inventory in the 1970,s.
