A scarce and lovely condition all leather pickelhaube to an officer serving in either Dragoon Regiment 10, 12 or 15. The leather skull is absolutely superb without any creasing or crazing, the white finish to both the back strap, officers removable spike, which is of the screw on variety, cruciform spike base, good frosting to the dragoon style eagle, some thinness to the white plating on the cross base and the front peak trim. The correct silver end caps to the gilded domed chin scales. To the interior some minor wear use evident to the light tan leather sweatband, all of the green inner silk present. Pencil marked size ‘57’ to the inner crown. An early German newspaper has been used to pad out the inside of the liner to make it a snugger fit to the wearer’s head. The newspaper is dated ‘January 1918’. The helmet is fitted with both of its officers quality State and national cockades.
