A superb battle worn 1st pattern Afrika Korps Panzer officers tunic. Bleached by the sun, fitted with a pair of slip-on Panzer Leutnant’s shoulder boards with pink underlay. Distinct shadow underneath the shoulder board where the shoulder board has protected the material from the sun. The tunic is fitted with a pair of the continental Panzer officers collar patches, wire woven, with pink centres. The stitching on the rear of the shoulder boards also indicates that the enlisted ranks collar patches that the tunic would have been issued with may still be in place. European style wire woven officers breast eagle on dark green backing cloth. A clear shadow can be seen when lifting the very corner of the breast eagle indicating that this breast eagle has been there since WWII. On lifting the collar a clear shadow beneath the collar where the collar has protected the underside from the riggers of the sun, pin holes in three spots on the front upper right hand pocket indicating awards. Some fleck storage stains otherwise the tunic is undamaged, skeleton lined as normal, all removable buttons. Faint traces of the original size stamping with a just about clear depot issue stamp of ‘E41’. On lifting back the inner flap to observe the reverse of the removable buttons this is lined in olive drab ribbed material, a clear large ink stamp of ‘PEEK & CLOPPENBURG BEHA G.m.b.H.’ below ‘BERLIN’. The Company of Peek & Cloppenburg are still in business in Germany today. A magnificent service worn tunic.
