GERMAN WWII WAFFEN SS GENERAL’S M.43 CAP.
A rare piece of Third Reich headgear being a Waffen SS General’s M.43 cap fitted with enlisted mans insignia. A lot of the Waffen SS headdress we have had over the many years have quite often tended to be in a lighter shade of grey green bordering on dove grey especially in the M.43 range of headdress, this is no different, a very light shade of grey green, constructed in the most high class material. The crown is surrounded with silver waffenfarbe as a General’s cap would be, neatly tucked in at a point at the rear of the cap, no damage from moth anywhere. The cap is a huge size, stamped to the green silk lining ‘59½’. Professionally machine stitched triangular one-piece enlisted ranks combined eagle and skull set, which has been hand sewn across the top of the eagle and then machine stitched to the sides and base. Twin aluminium central buttons. To the side, cross hatched stitched, the black based SS edelweiss. Some evidence of wear use in the forehead area to the green silk lining, no internal leather sweatband of any sort, even around the forehead area.
