FREE FRENCH WWII BADGE AND ARMBAND.
A nice pair of items probably produced late in 1944. A white canvas armband with the central motif being the Cross of Lorraine in red with a blue V through the base of the cross, individually numbered 3587 with a Roman numeral II applied. Accompanied with a 30mm x 48mm shield shaped badge, surmounted by the white Cross of Lorraine, the badge attractively enamelled in red, white and blue, a map of France with the letters ‘FFI’ and ‘1944’ to the base and centre. A chain runs across the badge, which is broken in the centre, a small section of North West France has been left non enamelled possibly depicting the part of France still occupied, pin back construction, to the reverse in raised lettering ‘Forces Francaices L’Interieur’ and then word ‘Region’.
