A good clean example of the standard Mauser bayonet of WWI. The blade is generally good, some black spotting, which has been cleaned, maker marked ‘Fichtel & Sachs of Schweinfurt’. Bavarian Army acceptance stamped over the date ‘18’ to the flat reverse of the blade. Wood grips undamaged. Some cleaned corrosion to the upper pommel, rifle retaining buttoned system in place and working correctly. The scabbard is painted in field grey green, it has one slight crease towards the base but is rare instead of being found in the normal blued finish. Fitted to the scabbard is a correct leather frog, beautifully stamped for Army Group 14. Stitching generally good but slightly open on both sides of the lower section of the frog. It is incredibly difficult to find any scabbards that are field grey painted.
