BRITISH WWI DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY OFFICERS COMPLETE TUNIC AND TROUSERS.
An excellent condition shoulder rank tunic for a Captain in the Durham Light Infantry with the straight leg trousers. The tunic is in superb condition, all bronze officers ranking system to each shoulder board and interestingly the bronze rank badges diminish in size, the exterior being the largest, the next size down then a further size smaller. Evidence that at one stage some form of metallic shoulder title was fitted also the shoulder boards. All the buttons are of the regimental DLI pattern, a matched set of Durham Light Infantry bronze officers collar badges to each collar. Military Cross, British War Medal and Victory Medal ribbon to the upper right breast as the tunic is worn. The tailor’s label situated in an unusual position underneath the flap of the upper right pocket viewed as the tunic is worn of ‘R.C.Heron & Company, Middlesborough. Clear typed date of ‘1918’ with the name of the owner, which appears to be ‘A.C.Hornsby’. The interior lining is superb, complete with the material matched from the same bolt of cloth straight leg trousers with turn-ups. The trousers have suffered some moth damage in the crotch area and there is a form of unidentifiable grey green paint stain to the lower left leg as the trousers are viewed.
