A very fine example of what is known as the converted jump smock constructed in the standard green (Grun Meliret) material. The smock started its life as a 3rd model 1940 step in smock and was later officially converted to an open front in the style of the 4th model of 1942. The smocks were officially converted as previously stated for ease of use instead of the wearer having to step into and pull up a garment over already being worn equipment. This example is in superb condition, all of its original zips with Rapid pullers in nickel, the two upper zips having black leather pulls, the two lower zips having brown leather pulls. All of the male/female securing system throughout the garment by Prym and all are in excellent condition without any rust. To the interior the lining is marked ‘Schultz Berlin’ with a size marking of ‘G.R.II A.’ To the left hand breast as viewing the tunic possibly at the time of capture or just after a triangular section was cut out of the breast to remove the already existing breast eagle, this has been collector reinstated with the identical material with the application to that patch of a standard Luftwaffe machine embroidered grey on Luftwaffe blue breast eagle. No staining, tears, replacements other than stated, to the whole garment. Minor evidence of wear use around the collar. The elasticised waistband is still strong and intact and working. Three button closing front with one central button a replacement. This actual item is photographed on the excellent work Fallschirmjager Volume 1 by Roly Pickering shown on pages 164, 165, 166 and 167. A superb item.
