Probably the heaviest blade we have ever had in a Japanese Wakasashi, blade length 51cms overall length 71cms, the blade is most unusual in the fact that it has a hamon on both edges of the blade. Beautiful polish, one stress crack close to the hilt, it could possibly be a cut down katan blade, circular tsuba with raised decoration. Fuchi and kashira all matching with gold raised decoration. Menuki in gold. The same completely undamaged beneath its wrapping, which is beautifully toned in age. The wooden saya absolutely superb with raised decoration plus an iron kojiri with matching decoration to the fuchi and kashira and complete with a raised gold kozuka. The tang is signed ‘Kazuka circa 1530 -1560 Condition:
