GERMAN THIRD REICH SS M40 SINGLE DECAL COMBAT HELMET.
A superb untouched model M40 SS single decal combat helmet, found in a sack of potatoes in Klagenfurt, Austria some years ago by a local collector, it has never been into any other collecting circles. Shell size marked ‘Q64’, the exterior shell retaining at least 80% of its original paint finish with losses being shown on our web site images. The single SS decal is good and clear with abrasions as can be seen. The helmet is complete with its original chinstrap, which is maker marked and dated ‘1940’, the name and date on the strap can only be seen when held in a certain shade of light. The interior liner again totally original to the helmet showing evidence of toning to the original cream leather and standard service usage, also its original drawstring. Faint traces of an owner’s name in white paint to the inner rear skirt, which appears to be ‘Rutka’. A superb example of an M40 single decal SS combat helmet.
