GERMAN WWII TROPICAL NAVAL OFFICERS VISOR CAP

In our opinion one of the rarest of headdress of any of the three military armed services. In our near close to 50 years handling this sort of items we probably only ever have had three tropical Naval visor caps previously. This is a French made cap It has a oval French makers stamp underneath the visor and the faint remains of another oval French stamp to the perforated inner lining in the crown area. The upper part of the cap Is storage and splash stained, which possibly could be removed but we advise against touching any historic item, fitted with its yellow wool and woven matching national eagle and cockade, with a set of gold cap cords and gold naval side buttons, a small unit badge just above the left hand side anchor button in the shape of a sea mine. The lining is a very crude double thickness section of white and tan linen material , stitch marks visible around the lower part of the centre band on the exterior come from a row of stitching on the inside of a hat.
