A good uniform of an enlisted cavalry man from the famous 17th Lancers, their fame is traced back to the charge of the light Brigade in the Crimea of which the Regiment was part of the charge. A late Victorian enlisted man’s Lance cap With all battle honours up to South Africa 1878, no moth damage to the ribbed white wool sides of the mortar board top, yellow and blue pom-pom, white horsehair plum with its plume holder, the lance cap is also complete with its yellow cap lines all interior lining present, with WD mark to the inner upper mortar board area of 1903 which is re inventory date , the cap being earlier, slight crazing to the white mortar board top. Tunic is the classic plastron fronted Lancers tunic in blue and white, all of the skull and cross bones buttons are present, yellow shoulder boards, all of the buttons on the rear skirt are present, one service chevron to the lower right-hand sleeve as the tunic is viewed, a set of the correct blue and white striped breeches, that have minor moth damage to the lower left hand side of the breech, yellow and red stable belt, white buff cross belt with large skull and cross bones badge to the closure flap, white gauntlets, a superb pair of the cavalry boots marked W Nicholson, CNM 1913 Kettering with W D mark over number 5 complete with their Spurs in unworn condition complete with a steel heel cleats.
