ROYAL NAVAL OFFICERS SWORD.

A most superb Royal Naval officers dress sword circa 1812 to 1825. Triangular section blade of 29 inches or 71cms etched with small trophies and standing figures with original blue and gilt decoration. The hilt is of the most delicate proportions having Georgian Crown fouled anchors to each langet, floral decoration to the hilt guard with lion's head upper pommel, maker marked on the rear upper scabbard mount 'Dudley, Grand Parade, Portsmouth'. The leather to the scabbard is absolutely superb in triangular form and uniquely the sword is with its original carrying bag. The hilt in ivory cross hatched carving in the area where the wire wrap is still all present to the hilt, one minor crack to the ivory below the lion's head. To find early naval swords of this quality and condition with its original badge is quite unique.
