GERMAN WWII M18 DOUBLE DECAL CUT OUT HELMET.

Probably the most difficult helmet variations of the Third Reich era being a double decal army M.18 helmet. As all collectors are aware these helmets were original produced in WWI and then reissued and in some cases twice, once further to the Reichswher and then further again to the Third Reich forces. Many of these helmets have gone through various ordnance depots with repaints and redecals. All of the M18 helmets are always ET64 in size, this example is no different. The paint that it has is probably its third coat, the first being the original WWI period finish then a Reichwher finish and then further refinished in the late 1930s with decals applied for the Third Reich forces. Apple green hand painted finish, rust flooding through the dome but a good amount of colour remaining. Both decals are good and clear, the national army decal has toned to a gold colour as is quite common with some these silver decals, scratches to the swastika and the right hand wing reveal the silver base below. The national tricolour is crazed in places but virtually complete with some chips to the red section. Fitted with the M.40 liner with an aluminium band and a carbine clip chinstrap. The liner retains 6 of its 8 tongues a two tongue section is missing. Ink stamped 64 to the rear inner skirt with an original owners name of Papermeyer hand applied. A very rare helmet.
