Possibly the most difficult element of any British WWI uniform is the footwear. Virtually all of the boots were worn home by the soldiers, worn out by working in industrial locations and thrown away, this is an excellent pair of the B5 boots, clearly size stamped and dated '1917' to the inner sole, punch holed WD marked to the left and right hand side of each boot. One boot is complete with a leather lace, the other without a lace. They are complete with both of their heel and toe cleats with some original nails left. Stitching is good and strong. There is a cut to the inside of the left hand boot, which has been featured in our web images but are still very displayable and can be used on a British infantryman's mannequin. Evidence of the original pebbling to the leather evident.
